WEWORK

The WeWork project focuses on women’s health-related issues and their impact on work ability.

The Women’s Health Team takes part in a collaborative project of four Finnish municipalities and the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health. The WeWork project (in Finnish Työhyvinvoinnin rakentajat) focuses on occupational health issues related to movement and ergonomics, neurodiversity, and cognitive ergonomics. As a novelty, the project concentrates on the impact of women’s health-related issues and work ability. As women make up an average of 76% of the workforce in the municipal sector, investing in women’s health and work ability is recognized as particularly important.

The goal is to improve the identification and treatment of women’s health–related symptoms and conditions, or referral to appropriate care, thereby improving and supporting women’s work ability. To reach this goal, one objective is to improve the employees’ and managers’ awareness of women’s health issues and dismantle the stigma or embarrassment surrounding women’s health.

During the project, we aim to provide concrete tools and operational models for municipalities to consider women’s health at work and to strengthen the cooperation between municipalities and occupational health services to improve and safeguard the employees’ work ability. The objective is to create an operational model that can be replicated in other Finnish municipalities.

The project is funded by European Union Social Fund Plus (EUSF+).
