FINWOMAN

The FINWOMAN study is a collaborative research project conducted by five university hospitals, focusing on PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, previously PCOS) and its impact on life.

All individuals who have received a PMOS diagnosis from a university hospital (7,500 women) were invited to participate in the study, along with two control participants for each PMOS case (15,000 women without a PMOS diagnosis).

The research aims to find answers to many PMOS-related questions that are currently not well understood, such as:

  • How women themselves experience the impact of PMOS on their lives
  • Whether and how the healthcare provider communicated the diagnosis, and how receiving the diagnosis affected the women personally
  • How PMOS affects sleep, concentration, or menopausal symptoms

The FINWOMAN study seeks to give a voice to those whose lives are affected by PMOS.

The study collects data on several life- and health-related factors that have been minimally studied in women. In another research project, we are developing healthcare tools aimed at identifying and highlighting symptoms and conditions related to women’s health.
